Nursing School Costs $$$$$$$$$$

I haven't even started school yet, and I have spent so much money.  My school requires the following in order to start nursing school.

  1. Complio - the school uses this to gather all of your vaccines, titers, and other requirements to share with the hospital - 2 year subscription - $45
  2. Background Check - level 2 - $129
  3. Tdap - Can't be more than 10 years old.  Fortunately I received this vaccine when I had my daughter in March.
  4. Varicella (chickenpox) - I paid a $76 copay at the urgent care in order to have the blood work drawn for my titers.  Luckily I was immune to varicella.
  5. MMR - I was immune.
  6. TB - My test was positive so I had to have a chest x-ray.  My copay at the clinic was $50 for the chest x-ray.  My x-ray was clear.
  7. Hepatitis B - I was not immune so I have to get the 3 dose vaccine.  I got the first dose and the next one is set for 30 days later.  My insurance covered the vaccine,
  8. Student Health Record Form - Once my chest x-ray came back clear I went back to the urgent where I paid another $50 copay to have them fill out the student health record form.
  9. Drug Screening - 10 panel - $35
  10. CPR - BLS from the American Heart Association - $55.  The college was offering it for $89 but fortunately I found a more affordable class.
  11. Uniform - 2 scrub bottoms, 1 clinical scrub top, 1 class scrub top - $136
  12. Stethoscope - $103
  13. Notebooks, penlights, bandage scissors - $26
  14. White leather shoes and compression socks - $56
  15. National Student Nurse Association Membership - $37 for one year

Total: $798

Chile, you have to be rich or have a good credit card to afford nursing school.  I still have to buy my textbooks and pay for classes.  Fortunately, I did receive a grant which will pay most of my tuition and I'm expecting some more grants and hopefully a scholarship that will pay for the rest of it.  Come what may I know my God will provide!

XOXO,
T

I am Jamerican, proud mom to the cutest little nugget, and I am a nursing student.  I started a Youtube Channel to document life and this blog is my channel's compliment.  Simply put Youtube is my LECTURE  and this website is the LAB.

I hope you take advantage of the resources so you can have as much success as I have.

    God Bless,
